Which title deserves the better headline for this Oregonian story:
TIMBERS GOALIE SAVES EVERYTHING TO HELP HIS SON.
MAN ABANDONS SON TO PLAY SPORTS!
“As a new father fresh out of college, Josh Wicks wrestled with his choice: Pursue a professional soccer career in Canada, or stay in Southern California to help raise his baby son. Follow his dream, or his family? Two years later, as the starting goalkeeper for the Portland Timbers, Wicks still struggles with his decision to leave his now 3-year-old son, Dominik, with his former girlfriend, the boy’s mother”¦His decision, however, didn’t mean abandoning Dominik. Choosing a pro soccer career gave Wicks an incentive: Play well enough to land on a top-tier European team and earn enough to give Dominik the kind of life Wicks never had”¦.”
I think giving his son time, normal time, is more important than any amount of money. They should give the hero award to mother, she deserves the article more than Wicks. Men nowadays may have a legal right to leave their child, but trying to justify it goes too far.
