This week, local union ILWU Local 5 broadcasted that 92% of Powell’s Books workers voted to authorize a strike. Oregon’s regional $15.45 minimum wage (among nation’s highest) has been considered “poverty wages” among union workers.   Powell’s Books is one of the nation’s largest bookstores.

– This summer, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 2505, which is the union for the Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission, made a vote to authorize a strike.

– At the same time Oregon Health Science University has been in talks for a strike.
