Lars Larson: Portland homeless camp ban moment of truth

The Northwest Nonsense

NW and national radio host,

Portland’s new ban, aimed at drug-addicted tent campers living on the streets, might just make a difference.

But it raises big questions.

First, will Portland’s feeble government actually enforce it.

It bans camping, structures, fires and gas heaters and the garbage and debris the so-called “homeless” usually pile up around their camps.

Homeless must accept the shelter the city offers or face fines and possible jail time.

Second, why didn’t Mayor Feckless do this years ago?

Teddy has used the infamous “Boise” court decision as an excuse NOT to take action on toxic and filthy camps that feature fires, assaults, shootings and chew up 50 percent of the city’s emergency
medical and police response for less than one percent of the population.

Multnomah County literally handed out 100-thousand tents and tarps to create this problem.

The city and County have been fighting over it for years.

It remains to be seen if they’ll work together to fix it.

I suspect most of the homeless won’t give a damn if they’re fined thousands, since they’re “judgment proof”…so the real test comes when Portland sends the first of the concrete campers to the Graybar Hotel.

With Feckless Ted running the show, I suspect he’ll chicken out when push comes to shove.
