Lars Larson: Sheriff refuses to help

By Lars Larson
NW and national radio host,

Imagine telling a cop you don’t like the law, so you choose not to follow it.

That’s ain’t likely to work.

But now Multnomah County’s Sheriff tells reporters she disagrees with the latest city ordinance to clear homeless camps.

So she refuses to book anyone charged with breaking that law.

Last Friday, Portlandia police arrested their first homeless bum.

He refused to move off public land and even refused the generous offer of a tiny home. So they arrested him.

The Supreme Court has even signed off on penalizing “concrete campers” for squatting.

But not Sheriff Nicole Morrisey O’Donnell.

O’Donnell calls it “not a constructive solution” although she offers none of her own.

Sheriff Nicky declares she won’t jail anyone under the new city law.

Down at City Hall, “Feckless” Ted Wheeler, lame duck Mayor of Portlandia says he’s “disappointed”. I’m sure he’ll send a strongly worded letter or something equally useless. He goes back to his old job of “millionaire trust fund kid” in less than 6 months so don’t expect any courageous leadership from Teddy.

If you wonder why the Rose City became the “riot city” and now the “rotting city” this is the reason.

Voters chose this bunch and now they get to live with the consequences.

That’s the Rose City Rap. Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk. I’m Lars Larson
