Food Stamp benefits are rising in October.

• At the same time Oregon is now paying people’s rents.

• Oregon this year  is also handing out free $1,000 checks to homeless youth.

• Multnomah handed out 20,000 free tents, and is now trying to unload another few thousand free tents despite the publci uproar.

• Portland?Multnomah is giving away 15,000 air conditioners, along with free clothes, $500 gift cards for homeless, free crack pipes and free $50 vouchers for any Portlander to spend on local businesses.

• This year, lawmakers considered a bill to expand food stamp benefits to cover hot meals like pizza and corn dogs because expecting peopel to cook their own meals is too much of a burden.

This has made Oregon a top food stamp state where people get paid to live in poverty and they get taxed (more than most states) when they get a job.  In effect, Oregon punishes you for working and rewards you for not working.
