Lars Larson on Mandatory Preventative Care

Now Presidential Candidate John Edwards thinks you should be forced to go to the doctor on a regular basis, whether you like it or not.

John Edwards is running in a far distant third place for President of the United States. Actually, he’s running for the Democrat nomination which he doesn’t have a prayer of getting””it will be Obama or Hillary at best. John Edwards says you should be forced to get preventative health care.

Look, I understand that preventative health care is a good idea. I go in for regular physicals, but I don’t want the government telling me that I have to do it. And yet John Edwards says under his program of health care that he’s proposing as a candidate for President, he wants the government to provide everyone with health care. But he says you can’t be in the system and then decide not to go to the doctor. So the government will force you to go and see the doctor to get preventative advice. What good is that if they can’t make you take the advice?

So now you are going to have the government telling you to lose weight, stop smoking, eat better and exercise more. Is that the kind of government you want? Not me.
