Who Stabbed Kalamata Harris

In 1934, Agatha Christie wrote and published a murder mystery entitled Murder on the Orient Express. In it Hercule Poirot struggles to determine who committed a murder while all are trapped by an avalanche on the Orient Express. Everyone gladly points the finger at any and all of the other passengers but in the end it is determined that all of them, in fact, stabbed the loathsome victim with good cause.

Fast forward ninety years and we are watching the recreation of that novel in the aftermath of the disaster known to Progressives as Kalamata Harris’ Big Loss. But this time there is a twist.

Former-Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D), who regularly denied the visible cognitive decline in President Joe Biden (D), blames Mr. Biden for not leaving the primaries early enough so that there would be a competitive primary. She is often joined by former President Barack Obama (D) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) all of whom assured us that Mr. Biden was just fine and quite robust and thus encouraged Mr. Biden to continue his Quixotic quest for re-election. They also knew that Ms. Harris was so poorly viewed by the public in general and the Democrats in particular that she would be viewed as a liability to Mr. Biden’s already laden campaign. There was active discussions as to whether to dump Ms. Harris and replace her with another, and more acceptable, women of color (gender and ethnicity being the primary considerations instead of competency.) Apparently, these three were in possession of internal polling that suggested that President-elect Donald J. Trump would win in a landslide with up to 400 electoral votes and yet they persisted.

Having forced Mr. Biden out of the general election race, these three did it in a manner that assured that the only person available was the woebegotten Ms. Harris complete with her history of word salads, ignorance of the issues, refusal to do the work necessary to learn and a decided preference for the limelight and the Hollywood phonies. In retrospect they now suggest that Ms. Harris probably would have won the Democrat primaries anyway but would be much stronger. They conveniently forgot that Ms. Harris had four years in the United States Senate and nearly another four years as Vice-president and never bothered to learn the issues, suggest a solution or complete a task assigned to her. She was too busy strutting across the stage like a prom queen. But if blaming Mr. Biden for their actions lets them sleep better at night, so be it. For most of us it is an illustration of how shallow and venal they are. They set Ms. Harris up for failure. No amount of campaign spending could overcome Ms. Harris’ shortcomings.

Other prominent Democrats blame vice-presidential nominee,, Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN), but artfully avoid noting that Mr. Walz was Ms. Harris’ pick and that when she picked him she knew no more about him as a goofball than she did about any other issue in the campaign. He added nothing to the ticket and probably detracted from it because of his lies about serving in combat, hand flapping, air-jumping, crazed phony contrived joy and his flubs at pretending to be a macho football fan, bird hunter and good-old-boy – none of which fit him in actuality. So contrived was his character that people began to question whether you could leave your young children in his care – even briefly. Mr. Walz had his moment in the sun and he will never hear from Ms. Harris again – and quite frankly that would be a good thing for him.

The harridans of the progressive movement blamed the voters for being stupid. They blamed men in general for toxic masculinity, black men in particular for not remembering their place, Hispanic men for machismo and transgender men for confusion. Others blamed racism (including racism from black men). Apparently if you do not knuckle under to the progressive mandates you are some sort of “ist” – racist, misogynist, sexist, whatever. There were even some in their midst who blame the Jews – although they somehow believe that progressives are immune from discriminating and therefore could not be identified as antisemitic.

The mainstream media blamed the pollsters for misleading them. The pollsters blamed the mainstream media’s pundits for not listening to them. And instead of addressing the problem continued to encourage Ms. Harris in what they deemed to be a “transformative” and enlightened campaign because it ignored reality and focused on form over substance. (They got away with it once before with Mr. Obama (hope and change) and were sure it would work again with Ms. Harris. However, that ignored the difference between Mr. Obama’s oratorical skills and Mr. Harris’ word salads.) But all of them assured Ms. Harris she was on the right track and was going to win handily – right up to the moment the votes were counted and she lost in a landslide not seen since President Ronald Reagan crushed Walter Mondale like silverfish at a pool party. Ms. Harris didn’t feel the knife in her back until the following day when they started the blame game.

In every instance they blamed everyone but the person primarily responsible for Ms. Harris’ stunning failure – Ms. Harris herself. I have written in the past about Ms. Harris. I started with a paraphrase from Tyrus, the multi-talented wrestler/bodyguard, comedian and all around man-with-both-feet-on-the-ground:

“Kamala Harris is a beautiful Black woman . . . [long pause] . . . who is wholly unqualified to be President of the United State.”

And I continued:

“Look, Ms. Harris is not an empty headed bimbo. Well at least I don’t think she is. But she has a long history of failing to do the necessary homework in order to participate in discussions of the critical issues of the day. So evident is this that even as Vice-president, her Democrat handlers basically kept her from situations where everything was not scripted on a teleprompter. On those rare instance when she went off script, her ignorance was on full display. It is the reason that they blocked unscripted interviews, pushed her to safe venues like her sorority sisters gatherings, and allowed everyone else to “explain” her views, opinions and plans to the press corps – giving her immediate deniability if one of those proved to be unpopular as many were. It is the reason that she quickly embraced positions that she had previously attacked – building a barrier on border, no income taxes on tips, etc. Nobody in politics has been as carefully staged as Ms. Harris and yet at every turn when she moves off script, where she is surprised by a question, or when one simply blows by her because she didn’t do the work, she resorts to the word salad and the insane cackle.”

The twist here is that while there is an unlimited number of people who brought out the knives during and after the campaign, none killed Ms. Harris. It was suicide brought on by her own ignorance, indolence and ineptitude.

Despite the rumors that Ms. Harris is considering another campaign to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom as governor of California, she will fair no better than she has done in her last two campaigns. The only good that could come out of that campaign is that she could see the truth about the Hollywood phonies and the high-tech opportunists as they decline her calls and refuse her campaign funds requests. It would be better if we just leave the poor misguided Ms. Harris alone and let her return to doing whatever it is she does best.
