Lars Larson: Its dooming the I-5 bridge

The Northwest Nonsense

The plan to build Planet Earth’s single most expensive light rail line, at one billion a mile, rests on a pack of lies.

Will elected officials buy those lies?

Light rail plans by Portland’s Trimet already killed the first I-5 replacement bridge a decade ago. That cost taxpayers a couple of hundred million.

Now, it threatens the new Bridge.

Clark County WASHINGTON taxpayers have been told they must send tens of millions a year in subsidies to the failing and ailing OREGON transit agency.

Vancouver city council and CTRAN board member Bart Hansen told me Friday, on the radio, he’ll vote “no”.

Other members seem likely to vote “no” as well.

Light rail adds 2 billion to the bridge replacement and there’s no evidence it’s needed.

Bizarrely , Vancouver Mayor Ann McEnegy Ogle supports the idea… strapping Washington taxpayers with the bill to bail out a financially failing OREGON transit agency. Still trying to get her on the radio to explain.

The interstate bridge seems doomed at this point.

They plan to break ground next year on a project that has less than half the money it needs and lacks the required Coast Guard approval.

And what do you think President Trump’s new Department of Government efficiency plans to do with a boondoggle like a billion-dollar-a-mile light rail line?

That’s the Rose City Rap. Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk. I’m Lars Larson
