HB 2525 expands Political Tax Credit to $500


House Bill 2525 would greatly expand Oregon Political Tax Credit

House Bill (HB 2525) would expand the Oregon Political Tax Credit from $100 (joint filers) to $500 and from $50 individuals to $250 (single tax filers).  The bill is sponsored by Oregon State Representative Paul Evans (D).  House Bill 2525, if passed, would apply to donations made this year.

House Bill (HB 2525) summary reads, “The Act makes a bigger amount for the tax credit that is allowed for gifts of money to political parties or to people who run for office. Increases the maximum allowable amount of political contribution personal income tax credit. Applies to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2025, and before January 1, 2028. Takes effect on the 91st day following adjournment sine die.”
