Senate Bill (SB560) aims to have all properly recorded income as tips to be tax exempt.  This is an idea that was just re-emphasized by President Trump just a few days ago in Las Vegas.

The Senate Bill (SB560) summary reads,”Creates an Oregon personal income tax subtraction for tips received by the taxpayer during the tax year.”

The primary way this bill will come into effect is, “There shall be subtracted from federal taxable income any amount of tips properly reported as wages on the taxpayer’s federal income tax return.

Because Oregon has one of the highest taxes on wages — this would have greater impact.

The bill sponsors are State Senators Dick Anderson (R), James I. Manning Jr. (D), Cedric Hayden (R), and Floyd Prozanski (D).
