Lars Larson: $250K-year “public servant” only part-time

By Lars Larson
NW and national radio host,

The government in Oregon seems less concerned with serving citizens and more about fattening the bank accounts of public employees.

Like John Kitzhaber’s grifter girlfriend peddling influence from the Governor’s office.

Secretary of State Shemia Fagan took ten thousand bucks a month from weed merchants till she got caught and resigned in shame.

BOLI director Val Hoyle steered six-figure sums to her buds in the bud business: she got stacks of weed cash, too.

Now, she’s a member of Congress.

All three are Democrats, of course.

And now we have Dr Sejal Hathi. She pulls down over a quarter million bucks a year as director of the Oregon Health Authority. You’d think the job would get her full attention for that kind of cabbage. Doc Hathi oversees 5-thousand employees and a 17 billion dollar budget.

But the OHA job apparently leaves Dr Hathi with time on her hands. She’s taken a part-time gig 700 miles away at Stanford.

She’ll see patients one weekend a month. Sounds like modern medicine to me.

Dr Hathi still hasn’t squared up her side job under Oregon Ethics laws that forbid outside paychecks.

But hey, it’s Oregon.

I’m sure Governor Kotek can sweep this one under the rug just like she did with her alcoholic wife’s gig in the governor’s office.
