Senate Bill 611 creates a new program called “Food for All” which extends food stamp benefits to non-citizens, migrants and others. With food stamps these recipients can spend the money on snack food, candy, ice cream and drink mixer items which has made the program famous for abuse.

Senate Bill 611 is up for a hearing this Tuesday in the Senate Committee On Human Services 03/25/2025 8:00 AM, HR D

We are concerned that this bill along with other benefits that are given to non-citzens like:

– Free hotel stays for non-citizens
– Free $30,000 grants for first time non-citizen homebuyers
– Free $1,000 monthly checks for homeless youth that are non-citizens
– Free bonus $120 summer checks for groceries

Senate Bil, “Establishes the Food for All Oregonians Program in the Department of Human Services to provide nutrition assistance to residents of this state who would qualify for the federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program but for their immigration status. Requires the department to implement the program by January 1, 2027, and conduct statewide outreach, education and engagement to maximize enrollment in the program. Requires the department to convene an advisory group to recommend metrics to evaluate the success of the department in treating all applicants for and recipients of public assistance in a welcoming manner and with respect, courtesy, fairness and dignity.”
