Portland defrauded out of $6.7 million

According to a report by Fox 12, the city of Portland was defrauded of $6.7 million intended for the Bull Run filtration system. Under the alias “John Lisman,” the fraudster convinced city officials to redirect these funds.

Officials say the funds were initially deposited into the account of a New York law firm before they were redirected. But the law firm was able to secure the funds and gave information supporting that they were also victims.”

As of now, the funds are currently in the hands of U.S. Marshals, and an active investigation is underway involving both state and federal law enforcement. The fraudster’s identity is currently not disclosed.

• Also, Portland Public school was hit was a $3 million fraud scheme.
