Rep. Drazan: Road tax scheme adds billions in more taxes

HOUSE REPUBLICAN LEADER RESPONDS TO DEMOCRATS SCHEMING TO ADD BILLIONS MORE IN TAXES TO FUND TRANSPORTATION

By Oregon State Representative and House GOP Leader Christine Drazan,

SALEM, Ore. – Today, House Republican Leader Christine Drazan (R-Canby) released the following statement in response to Democrats scheming to add a dozen tax and fee increases to Oregonians, including increasing the gas tax to 80 cents per gallon, putting Oregon in first place for the state with the most expensive gas tax in the nation, topping California, which currently taxes gas at nearly 70 cents per gallon.

“Democrats want Oregonians to pay more and get less. Oregonians can’t afford more than $2 billion in taxes to throw more money at a broken system,” said Rep. Drazan. Our proposal holds ODOT accountable to its core mission and protects families from tax increases by reprioritizing funding instead of carelessly raising taxes Oregonians can’t afford.”
