Lars Larson: Kotek is faking it

By Lars Larson
NW and national radio host,

The Northwest Nonsense:

Governor Kotek surely knows how to stage some dramatic political theater.

Her own Democrat Party couldn’t muster the votes to pass a record-sized tax increase of 15 billion last month.

Super Majority Democrats even turned down a 2 billion alternative.

Then the show began. State agencies began announcing crazy stuff: Hundreds of state employees got layoff notices, all of them, of course, blue collar folks who actually do the work and none of the well paid paper pushers upstairs.

Citizens got threats: we won’t plow snow in the winter. We won’t fill your potholes. A 27 percent cut in bus service.

All of it designed to scare the daylights out of taxpayers…all of it fake.

How do I know Kotek’s faking? After weeks of “sky is falling” reports by cooperative media, the Governor announces she’s calling a special session.

Layoffs set to go into effect 8 days from now, pushed back a month.

And that special session…five weeks from now…on the Friday heading into Labor Day weekend when most folks won’t be paying attention.

In my book, sleazy tactics, even for a Governor who won her office using stolen illegal campaign cash.

That’s the Rose City Rap. Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk. I’m Lars Larson
