Lars Larson: Daycare that costs $92k per kid in taxpayer cash?

Can you imagine paying 92-thousand bucks a kid for day care?

That’s exactly what Multnomah County did, handing out more than 800-thousand of taxpayer cash to cover just 9 children.

It gets worse folks.

The County official who runs the Preschool for all program also OWNS the private company that got the 800-grand.

Leslee Barnes pulls down a salary of more than 142-thousand bucks a year .

Secretary of State Tobias Read did an audit of Oregon’s “preschool for all”, finding more than a million dollars in wasted funds.

Only Read protected the private providers who got all that cash…by not releasing their names.

Enterprising journalist Joanna Hou (ho) of Willamette week dug through the spreadsheets to make that connection.

More than half of the wasted cash went to Leslee Barnes private company.

I will happily offer Ms Barnes a chance to respond. Think she’ll call me back?

Here’s the way I add it up.

A county employee making six figures, directs more than 800-thousand to a company she owns, operated by her family.

The democrat Secretary of State helpfully hides the names.

And as of this morning, you’re only hearing about this expensive self-dealing by a government official in Willamette Week and here on KXL.

Cartel media ain’t doing the story.

That’s the Rose City Rap. Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk. I’m Lars Larson
