Something noteworthy on Wyden’s home page

U.S. Senator Ron Wyden’s homepage on his website has a link for federal employees that are being laid off.  We think this is admirable and it is nice to see elected officials trying to help.

But why stop there?

Intel has laid off thousands.  NIKE and Fred Meyer are both laying of nearly a 1,000.  Do politicians only offer extra help to government employees over everyday Oregonians?  We hope not.

Following Senator Wyden’s link is another link to a site on how to appeal and fight your termination.  Is this the role of government officials to block government from reducing the workforce like every other business in the world?  Remember, then President Bill Clinton reduced the workforce by nearly 700,000 employees.

lastly, as Wyden makes a sincere pitch to help Federal workers not be laid of, it must be remembered in the context of Senator Wyden voting to stop the 2025 tax cuts in the Big Beautiful Bill.  That bill stopped the 2017 tax cuts from expiring.  Wyden voted against “no tax on tips”, Wyden voted against giving tax relief for seniors and overtime workers.

Here is the tax savings that Wyden voted against when he voted NO on the Big Beautiful Bill.

Simply put, by his own vote Senator Wyden favors sky-high taxes for low income, middle class and small businesses owners at the same time he is trying to block a reduction in the Federal workforce.   Wyden answer to the $30+ trillion debt is to not reduce spending but to stick everyday taxpayers with a higher tax bill.  Will Wyden be open to reductions if the debt hits $40 trillion?  $50 trillion?

As said, we don’t have any issue with Wyden helping Federal Employees … we do have issue with his priorities and taxes.

By the way, Governor Kotek prioritized government jobs over private ones this year:
