WILLSONVILLE, Ore. – Today, Senate Republicans elected Senator Bruce Starr (R-Dundee) as the new Leader of the Senate Republican Caucus.

“Daniel Bonham’s service as Caucus Leader has been exceptional. He has always punched above his weight class, and he leaves huge shoes to fill. Senator Bonham inspires us to keep looking ahead, and I will always treasure his friendship,” said Senator Starr.

“It is humbling, and an honor, to be chosen among my Senate Republican colleagues to serve as Minority Leader. Oregon is at a crossroads, and we know the solvency and viability of our state depends on our ability to achieve electoral and policy victories for Oregonians,” Starr concluded.

Senator Bonham also offered his support for Starr, saying, “I couldn’t be more confident in Senator Starr stepping in as our new Leader. Bruce is steady, experienced, and committed to fighting for Oregonians. I know this caucus will continue moving forward with focus and purpose.”

Starr has served in the Oregon Senate since 2025 and previously represented Hillsboro and surrounding areas in the Oregon House of Representatives and Oregon Senate from 1999 to 2014.
