McMinville councilor under fire for Kirk death comments

McMinville City Councilor Sal Peralta is under fire for his Facebook post,

Sal Peralta said, “He’s a Christina motivational speaker the same way the klan is a fraternal organization. He has no relationship to a gospel-centered bible. His entire schtick is the opposite of Jesus’ ministry – to persuade people like you to dislike, fear, and hate people you perceive to be different than you — liberals, immigrants, trans people, etc. I don’t wish harm on anyone but when you make a living out of sh***ing on groups of other people every single day, don’t be surprised when some of the hate comes back to you”

• Let the record show that Sal Peralta is comparing Charlie Kirk to a group that killed as many as 2,000 African Americans.  Charlie Kirk killed no one — but rather, Charlie Kirk is the one who was killed.  Kirk was the third person to be killed by far-Left shooters during a two week period.

• Charlie Kirk did not discriminate like the Klan, instead it has been liberal colleges that have been blocking, discriminating and censoring conservatives from speaking at their own campuses.  Ask a Jewish student how safe they feel on campus from the Left-protests.

• If Charlie Kirk was so intolerant, why did Charlie’s wife forgive her husband’s shooter?  Even a Newport Charlie Kirk vigil, had people praying for the soul of the shooter.

• If Charlie Kirk was so intolerant, why did all conservatives vote for the Congressional Resolution honoring the Minnesota slain lawmaker, but most Congressional Democrats did not vote for the Resolution honoring Charlie Kirk?

Sal Perlta issued a follow-up response, “In response to the people who slid into my DM’s yesterday, I will say it again: I do not wish harm on anyone. I believe the right to express a political opinion is a cornerstone of a just society. I feel badly for his family, the same way I do for anyone harmed by violence. But, I will not mourn someone who attacks people’s basic right to exist and who has done so much damage to basic civility and social cohesion in this country through Klan style policies and racist, sexist and homophobic dog whistles. The messages I received are good examples of this toxicity.”
