Senate to vote on gas tax/wage tax bill today

Today, Monday September 29, is the day that the Oregon Senate is set to take a vote on HB 3991.  This bill would raise the gas tax by 15% and raise the transit wage tax by 100% on your wages.

The tax would raise $587 million for the two year budget.

With no vote to spare for the Oregon Senate Democrat Majority, the health of State Senator Chris Gorsek, has delayed the vote two times this month.  Now, sources confirm he is expected to show up to vote today.

Facing already passed the House, the tax bill will go to Governor Tina Kotek’s desk.

This gas tax/wage tax package will cost many families $300 in higher costs.

Already, discussions are underway to launch a citizen referendum rive to stop the tax by forcing a public vote by voters.  Stay tuned.
