When Will They Ever Learn

I doubt that the Congressional Democrats (and their media allies) are ever going to learn that they are about to be “sucker punched” by President Donald Trump (R). They make it too easy for him. So anxious are they to find fault that they seize upon any event, any rumor, any anonymous source, or any accusation – anything that can’t be checked immediately and thus give them time to speculate and build the parade of horribles they routinely roll out. There was Russiagate and the Steele Dossier in the beginning and of late it is Mr. Trump’s association with Jeffery Epstein, his cognitive skills and/or his physical health (based on the fact that he took a routine MRI). In every instance, Mr. Trump lets the Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media work themselves past rage and unto insanity before he pulls out the facts (transcripts, files, medical results, etc.) to prove them wrong again and again and again. Truly this is the mark of insanity – doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

Be that as it may, the latest rage is found in the destruction of a fast boat carrying drugs destined for distribution in the United States. The Democrats have already condemned these attacks on these narco vessels as an act of war – they aren’t – despite that it is precisely the same type of military activity undertaken by every Democrat president since President Jimmy Carter (D) up through Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden with nary a peep from Democrats in Congress nor the mainstream media. And the Congressional Democrats and mainstream media went immediately to DEFCON 1 – they branded Mr. Trump a “war criminal” and demanded that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth and the commander of the narco strike be referred to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands for prosecution as war criminals.

Apparently the issue revolves around the alleged use of a second missile after the first one struck the narco vessel. The Democrats claim that it was used to kill survivors in the water from the original strike and the Administration denied it. And herein lies when common sense should have intervened immediately. First, the United States is not signatory to the treaty creating the International Criminal Court (a notoriously biased anti-American entity), and thus does not have jurisdiction over America or its people. Second, there is satellite and probably drone videos of the whole incident which can lay out with precision what actually happened – but the Democrats could not wait for them. And finally the rules of engagement in armed conflict – including armed conflict against a terrorist organization regardless of its location – allow secondary attacks to complete the destruction of any device being used by the terrorists to further their unlawful acts – it apparently includes blowing up tents as was done by both Messrs. Clinton and Obama.

And yet, without examining any of this material the Democrats* have pounced. It’s not just that they are routinely wrong**. It’s they don’t care. How difficult would it have been to simply wait 24 hours to see the films. If, as the Democrats claim, the purpose of the second missile was to kill survivors in the water, it will be obvious. If not, they could have saved themselves another embarrassment.

But in today’s world, accusations, rumors, and anonymous sources appear on page one while the facts are thereafter ignored. No wonder our young people are disillusioned by politicians and the news – they should be.

* All of this is said with my apologies to the rank and file Democrats left behind by the Liberals and Progressives in their party. I recognize that not all Democrats believe the baloney going on in national politics. The best thing for them to do is call former Representative Harold Ford, Jr. (D-TN) and discover there are still some prominent Democrats possessed of common sense, compassion and patience for the truth.

** There is a rumor that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) has closed the Congressional Gym to Democrats because they already get all of their exercise jumping to conclusions.
