98% food stamp fraud occurs out of state (blame Kotek)

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon
Foundation,

New state data shows that 98% of food stamp fraud in Oregon occurs out of state.  This is because Oregon safeguards are low, and our leaders, Governor Kotek and agency heads, have not shown concern.

Here are some safety failures of our food stamp system:

• The media has faulted our Department of Human services for not responding to victims of food stamp fraud.  When victims call to report criminal activity, the state has often just ignored them, saying there is nothing they can do about it.   That is unacceptable.

• Governor Kotek has blocked federal auditors from obtaining the names and addresses of Oregonians on federal food stamps.  This hinders the Federal Government from investigating waste, fraud and abuse of a program that federal tax dollars pay for.

• Oregon does not include chip security protections in its food stamp debit cards.

• One of the biggest problems with food stamp theft is card skimming.  Yet, Kotek and her Democrat majority lawmakers in 2017 voted to reduce penalties for theft.  Now include the public defender crisis in Oregon where thousands of criminal cases have been dropped over lack of funding, and on top of that, then-Governor Kate Brown’s releasing 1,000 criminals early.  The end result is that Oregon is like a theft sanctuary state where you can commit crimes and be less likely to be discovered, less likely to be prosecuted, and if prosecuted, less likely to serve much time.
