California’s union push ultimate cash grab ballot measure

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon Foundation,

Government employee unions are pushing a wealth-tax ballot measure that would tax the possessions of higher income — stocks, artwork and intellectual property rights.  Targeted Californians would have to price-tag every item they own, create a sum total, and then be taxed on the value.   The union backed idea hopes to raise a new $100 billion.  This wealth tax is so extreme that even progressive Governor Gavin Newsom is having doubts.

This tax would surely drive higher-income citizens and entrepreneurs out of the state.   This is happening now in Oregon as Oregon’s high taxes are driving out higher-income taxpayers while middle-income taxpayers are stuck.   This is especially true in the highest-taxed area of Multnomah County.
