Rank Voting busted the bank at elections office

There is an audit that says Multnomah County Elections Office is in desperate need of money.   The OPB story says that rank choice voting is costing more but not a big problem.  We disagree.   Last election cycle Portland had to put out costly advertisements and send out mailings to educate people on the new form of voting.  It didn’t work.  People tended to skip the races where rank choice voting was used.  Rank Choice Voting proponents said it would increase voter participation and it ended up shrinking it — and it cost more.

Now Multnomah County is ready to implement Rank Choice Voting for county races, and here we go again with more public re-education and more expenses to make it work.

Here is how the Portland ballot looked last time.

Last election, under Rank Choice voting the #3 choice came in at #1.

And this is called success?
