Lars Larson: On Portland’s new road tax

By Lars Larson
NW and national radio host,

The Northwest Nonsense

You just gotta love the rank hypocrisy of Northwest Democrats.

The so called progressives on Portland’s bloated 12 member city council just passed the most regressive new road taxes I’ve seen in a long time.

12 bucks a month you will pay through your utility bills…8 bucks if you live in multi family housing.

Let me translate that.

Multi millionaires who live in Portland will pay the same amount every month that minimum wage workers pay.  Liberals usually hate flat taxes like that.

Ordinary folks who live in a tiny decrepit house in lents will pay 12 dollars every month while those able to afford the million dollar cost of a Ritz Carlton condo downtown will only pay 8 bucks because that’s multi family housing.

Imagine trying to explain that crazy contradiction at your next Democrat Socialists of America meeting.

Meanwhile, ballots went in the mail this week for Oregon’s primary.  Vote “no” on Measure 120 unless you want to get slapped with Queen Tina Kotek’s new 4.3 billion dollar tax and fee package.

Governor candidate Ed Diehl told me yesterday THAT things going down 70-30 and its likely to drag Kotek down with it.

That’s the Rose City Rap.  Join me at noon on KXL for 4 hours of Honestly provocative talk.  I’m Lars Larson
