Blazers want bailout without disclosing remodel plans?

By Taxpayers Association of Oregon
Foundation,

The Portland Trailblazers want $600 million in taxpayers dollars (state, county, city), but are refusing to disclose the details of their renovation plans.

OPB reports, “According to city officials, that’s because the Portland Trail Blazers have yet to share details of the renovation plans they have in mind for the Moda Center. The Blazers say they need the city to commit to funding before they’ll share designs… This means that city councilors will be asked to vote on a funding plan without knowing how they’ll pay for it. ”

This is not how business is done.

You don’t spend tax dollars before you know how it will be spent.

That is like the playbook for wasteful spending and holding taxpayers hostage.

Not right.  Not fair.

Some places do not require taxpayer bailouts for arenas.  In Milwaukie, they split the cost 50/50.
