Biden Warned Us About Obama – and He Was Right

Last year Biden gave us this stunning warning that more than half the electorate ignored in the presidential election of 2008:

“Mark my words, it will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”

“I promise you, you all are going to be sitting here a year from now going, ‘Oh my God, why are they there in the polls, why is the polling so down, why is this thing so tough?’ We’re going have to make some incredibly tough decisions in the first two years,” said Biden. “I’m asking you now, be prepared to stick with us. Remember the faith you had at this point because you’re going to have to reinforce us.”

So now we have it. An American-flagged vessel’s Captain taken hostage by Somali pirates. What has been Obama’s reaction so far, after four long days?

“No comment.”

“Guys, we’re talking about housing right now.”

That’s it. The sum total from Obama when an American ship is attacked by pirates and the captain is held hostage.

How brave. How strong. How brilliant. How commanding. How resourceful. How careful. How quiet. How humane. How nuanced. How worldly. How right on!

I guess the teleprompter doesn’t know what to say when something serious occurs. The teleprompter can’t say “terrorist”. The teleprompter can’t say “pirate”. These are simply businessmen trying to earn a living, so we must send in the FBI to negotiate with them.

At this point you might logically speculate that even Jimmy Carter would have said something beyond “No comment” and “Guys, we’re talking about housing right now.”

If you travel outside of the United States and are ever taken hostage, at least you know in advance that housing issues will be far more important to this administration than your safety or return. And housing will be far more important than our nation’s strength throughout the world. Imagine how the real terrorists feel now, when a ragtag bunch of disorganized thugs from less than a third world country can bring the US to its knees and its president to speechless inaction?

Joe was right — sadly — very right.
