School Choice Gains in New Jersey and Virginia

The Virginia and New Jersey governors-elect have both appointed long-time school choice proponents to their states’ top education posts. This past Tuesday, Gerard Robinson, president of the national Black Alliance for Educational Options, was named the commonwealth’s new Secretary of Education. Yesterday, Bret Schundler was selected to serve as the Garden State’s new education commissioner. From 1992 to 2001 Schundler served as Mayor of Jersey City. His appointment awaits state senate approval.
