Homeless killing those who help them

Portland homeless helper stabbed to death:  The Post Millennial reports that a man who worked to help accommodate homeless people in his own neighborhood was killed by one of those very homeless campers. Kenny Housman, 73, helped to extend electricity to homeless campers. He solicited homeless benefits from various services to the campers. He pushed the city to not remove illegal campers, much to the anger of the other neighbors who wanted them gone.

Portland homeless helper who set-up pool killed:  The Portland Tribune reported on Tyson Morlock who helped his local homeless was killed in 2021, “A man whose ingenious pop-up swimming pool kept the homeless cool during the recent heat wave was fatally stabbed in the same spot just one day later, according to Portland police.”

Seaside man who took in homeless teens robbed, killed:  In 2023, an elderly Seaside man who tried to help a homeless teenager wound up beaten with a chain and padlock, stabbed in the lung, and left for dead in his garage, according to KATU News. The 80-year-old victim told police he had seen the teenager around McDonald’s in Astoria three or four times and purchased food for him. But on Oct. 27, the 18-year-old boy, Isaiah James Thompson, contacted the victim, asking if he could buy him drugs. He drove the teen to his home, gave him a beer, and let him shower. But when he entered his garage, the teenager hit him in the face 20 or 30 times and stabbed him in the lung before stealing his Ford Mustang. He drove more than 100 mph and crashed the car, fleeing on foot.
