This website was hacked

There have been a lot of suspicious hacks recently.

This website, used by a coalition of Oregon groups, was recently hacked and taken down following our reporting of a recent Portland riot. What caught our attention was the fact that a similar national website reporting on the exact same event was hacked at the exact same time. They had their webpage replaced with a political revenge message. Additionally, a local mainstream news station removed their reporting of the same event. Soon after, there was a different security attack upon the Taxpayers Association of Oregon.

It could all be a coincidence, or it all could be what we see playing out across America, that extreme Leftists engage in online sabotage of news stories that they do not like. This is cyber terrorism.

It is happening more frequently.

If you see this website down for a few hours — know that it is because we face constant hacking. We always are able to get back online on a timely basis because this website has good protection, good back-up and good people fixing the damage from attacks.

Having protection for a website can be a problem for a giant website that has been around for 19 years! — like Oregon Catalyst has. That means, there are 14,000 articles (over 17 years) to protect and provide back-up for. It is extremely expensive to run a large news website.
