Liberals will fine a small businesses tens of thousands of dollars, but when one of Oregon’s top officials makes several ethics violations — they get a $1,600 fine.

Former Secretary of State, Shemia Fagan,  who resigned under multiple scandals recently, was guilty of taking a third job as a consultant to one of Oregon’s biggest marijuana firms at the same moment she produced a big state report on the same marijuana industry.   That report, to no surprise, lobbied the State of Oregon to do more to use government power to bolster the marijuana industry nationwide. A massive conflict of interest and a massive abuse of government power.

There is also additional scandals involving improper filings and improper use of travel reimbursements.  The Oregonian notes, “Cheryl Myers, who became acting secretary of state after Fagan’s resignation, previously said the agency’s employees repeatedly warned Fagan that she was bending, and possibly breaking, state travel rules by bringing her family on state-paid work trips. Under the settlement, the commission also agreed to send Fagan a so-called letter of education for filing inaccurate statements of economic interest in 2022 and 2023 as required under Oregon law.”

Oregon liberal officials are letting Oregon liberal politicians off the hook.

A $1,600 fine is nothing compared to three different violations.
