About Oregon purging 800,000 voters from the rolls

The Oregon Secretary of State is about to remove 800,000 Oregon inactive voters from the voting rolls.  On one hand, they are considered by many to be a little late in getting to clean-up our Oregon voter rolls.  The recent Trump administration’s request for our voter data to check for fraud may have provided incentive for the Elections Office to review the status of our voter rolls.    Some of these voters have been  inactive since 2017.   For years, they have not responded to mail inquires and have not been receiving ballots.   Having inactive voters exist who may not be alive or have left the state, making our system vulnerable to voter fraud.

The reason why Oregon may have an abundance of inactive voters is due to to our Motor Voter mandate that pressures people to register to  vote when they get a drivers license.   Signing up voters incidentally or accidentally means you are filling up our rolls with people who have no intention of voting.
