Bill to increase death tax sees late action (alert!)

Surprise!

In the final 6 days of the Legislative Session, the politicians did a late hearing this week for SB 1511.   This bill raises the rate on Oregon’s death tax for most brackets, but cuts it for the people on the bottom.   The government does not lose a penny.

It is insane for Oregon to raise the death tax rates when 38 states have abolished their death tax.

The fact that this bill had a speedy and late public hearing means the politicians are making a high risk move to ramrod the bill at the last possible moment.

This is risky — which means if you make a call to the Capitol we can kill it.

The politicians also wish to tweak the Death Tax in order to interfere with the current petition gathering signatures for the November Ballot that would abolish the death tax altogether.

TWO WAYS YOU MUST HELP

#1. Sign the Oregon petition to abolish the death tax.  Email us with your mail address and the Taxpayers Association will send you a copy ASAP.

#2. Call these members of the House Revenue Committee and tell them to vote NO on SB 1511 which raises the death tax rates (while lower others). 

Please call the Members of the House Revenue Committee below and say
– Vote No on SB 1511
– Death tax should be abolished
– Always be polite, kind and courteous when you call and email.
