Yesterday, President Trump signed an Executive Order entitled “Ensuring Citizenship Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections”.

This order:

• Requires the Social Security Administration and Department of Homeland Security agencies to create a nationwide list of eligible voters.
• Requires the U.S. Post office to not mail any mail ballots to those voters not on the list.
• Requires election offices to use barcode identifiers for ballots for the interest of tracking.
• Increases criminal liability of election officials if they send ballots to ineligible voters form the newly created list.

In response, the Oregon Attorney General has issued a statement that he will pursue legal action to stop it.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said of the mail tracking provisions, “If you voted by mail, you will have it on the envelope. There’ll be a million envelopes… and you’ll be able to know exactly correctly, that citizens voted.”
