Oregonian backs Drazan, while Kotek loses key union endorsement

By Oregon Campaign Watch,

This weekend the Sunday Editorial Board tackled the 16 Oregon Republican candidate and chose Christine Drazan as their top choice.

They said,“Republicans who want the best shot at defeating Kotek, who faces only nominal competition in the Democratic primary, should turn to Sen. Christine Drazan, R-Canby, to reprise her run from four years ago. With no well-funded third-party candidate to take votes from both candidates this time around, a Drazan-Kotek matchup would give Oregonians a competitive head-to-head contest showcasing their different strategies for strengthening the state.Drazan, 53, would be a formidable adversary for Kotek — and a familiar one, dating back to 2020 when Kotek was House speaker and Drazan served as the House Republican leader. That year, Drazan led a walkout of Republican legislators to block Democrats from advancing a cap-and-trade bill aimed at curbing emissions that would generate higher costs for Oregonians.”

Meanwhile, Oregon’s largest teacher’s union, the Oregon Education Association, has declined to endorse Governor Kotek. Also, the Working Families of Oregon has declined.
