Yesterday was the city deadline for city petitions, and the Safer Portland PAC turned in over 60,000 signatures for the petition to fully fund Portland police which will help reverse Portland’s notorious crime wave.   Roughly 40,000 signatures were needed to qualify.

The Taxpayers Association of Oregon was involved in the volunteer signature drive efforts for this petition.

If this petition qualifies and passes on the November ballot, it will help reduce 911 wait times, which has been painfully long in the City of Portland.  By adding back into the system hundreds of new police officers, Portland will be able to better respond to crimes and better able to do community policing where small businesses and neighborhoods can actually meet and communicate with their local police officers.
