The Oregon State Legislature web site is now showing that “Legislative Organizational Days will begin Monday, January 12, 2015, and run through Wednesday January 14, 2015. During Organizational Days, members-elect are sworn in as legislators, bills are introduced, and committee membership is announced. The 78th Legislative Assembly will convene on Monday, February 2, 2015 for the regular session.”

Democrats have further tightened their control for this session with gains in the November 2014 election. As well as a Democratic governor, Democrats have returned to super-majority status in the Oregon Senate. They hold 18 seats to Republicans’ 12 seats. In the Oregon House, Democrats have moved to within one seat of super-majority status. Democrats hold 35 seats to Republicans’ 25 seats.

The Statesman Journal has a schedule for this week’s organizing sessions at the bottom of an op-ed.
