Tea Party: Candlelight vigil to protest health takeover care vote

Oregon Tea Party will gather to honor our nation’s founding on the eve of Congress’ ill consideration of “Health Insurance Reform.” It’s going to be a beautiful night for a protest!

Event: Meet on westbound side of Hawthorne Bridge. Wear dark colors, black preferred (but be careful of cars – drivers can’t see you as easily when you wear dark colors at night). Bring a flashlight. At sundown – 7:23pm – we will illuminate our faces and observe 13 minutes of silence, one minute for each of the original 13 colonies. Photographs of the spectacle will be taken and the media will be alerted. We will follow the silence with a closing benediction and exchange contact information.

Saturday, March 20, 2010
Time: 7:00 to 8:00 pm
Place: The Hawthorne Bridge, SW Hawthorne @ Waterfront Park, Portland
Cost: FREE
RSVP: To 503-320-4399

Apparently “westbound” side means west end of the bridge and on the north side where the west-bound lanes are. But check back for confirmation. (“Westbound side”? Really?)

I think this means on the bridge itself.
On the westbound, north sidewalk of the bridge.

    There’s another problem though.
With sunset at 7:23 it won’t be dark yet.
Another 1/2 hour would probably be needed to have the flashlights have the desire effect.

    and the title here
    Health takeover care vote?

“Wear dark colors, black preferred (but be careful of cars – drivers can’t see you as easily when you wear dark colors at night”

Is this some attempt at winning a Darwin award? Or did the other side, meaning health care reform supporters make this up to lure opponents to their deaths? It could be a group of crazy cyclists dressed in bright lycra (this being the Hawthorne bridge) will be poised to run down black clad (anarchist look?) tea partiers. Hard to know which side will be which.
