Oregon Senate GOP Leader Ted Ferrioli on Denial of Quorum

Salem, Ore. – Senate Republican Leader Ted Ferrioli (R-John Day) provided the following statement after Senate Republicans denied quorum and prevented consideration of bills on the Senate floor late Wednesday:

“This session we’ve seen the Democrat majority put their partisan agenda ahead of both the needs of Oregonians and the law. Senate Republicans will not work late into the night to fast track an agenda pursued by the Democrat majority that features back room deals between Democrats and special interests and numerous broken promises of collaboration and compromise.

Senate Republicans will be back tomorrow to fight against this extremely partisan, destructive agenda Democrats are committed to fast tracking through the legislative session, doing irreparable harm to Oregonians. Until then, Oregonians deserve an explanation from the Democrat majority as to why they refuse to work across the aisle for bipartisan, consensus solutions to the real problems facing our state.”

this is democracy at its finest. 51% of voters in enough districts get to represent the whole state. meaning they represent all Oregonians when the reality of it is they actually represent less than half. and too many of the voters are voting themselves a pay check (figuratively) from all the rest of us. Democracy is literally mob rule. look at trump and hill. they know how to work the crowd. even Bernie knows what he has to say to buy votes.

What other option do you see being feasible?

      • Guess Who

A republic with democratic process ?? Oh wait that is what we are suppose to have per the state and federal constitution.

Right on! Government’s too big already. Dial it back.

Good for you and the Oregon GOP. Too bad the national level GOP 9in general) is not as tough.
