Senator Jackie Winters statement on September Economic and Revenue Forecast

By Oregon Senate Republicans

Oregon Senate Republican Leader Jackie Winters (R-Salem), released the following statement regarding the September Economic and Revenue Forecast:

“Oregon’s economy is growing, creating opportunities across Oregon. However, the shortage of skilled workers in the state is concerning. Senate Republicans have long supported additional Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding and will once again work to secure increased CTE and other job training opportunities in the state. In order for Oregon to continue to thrive, we must have a skilled workforce.

Forest fires are a major issue negatively affecting our state. The human, environmental, and economic costs are immense. Every year we see these large fires devastate Oregon’s rural communities and wild lands, and the fires’ economic impacts to our communities is evident. It is time to take forest management seriously, limiting the harm done by these natural disasters.

Once again, the income tax “Kicker” will kick, returning millions of dollars to hardworking Oregonians. The economy is doing well because of Oregon’s workers and job creators, and protecting the Kicker, so that Oregonians get to keep more of their hard-earned money, will continue to be a priority for the Senate Republicans.”
