46 years of legal abortion

By Oregon Right to Life —

Forty-six years ago, the Supreme Court effectually legalized abortion in their twin decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Since then, over 60 million human lives have been ended at the hands of abortion providers. There have been 530,437 abortions in Oregon (Vital Statistics, 1973-2016).

their twin decisions, Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. Since then, over 60 million human lives have been ended at the hands of abortion providers. There have been 530,437 abortions in Oregon (Vital Statistics, 1973-2016).

“January 22 is one of the darkest anniversaries in American history,” says Lois Anderson, Oregon Right to Life executive director. “Since 1973, over 530,000 Oregonians have lost their lives.”

“Oregon’s ruling political party’s sick reciprocal relationship with Oregon’s abortion businesses place Oregonians in danger every day,” continued Anderson. “Abortion is legal until the moment of birth here, with not one common sense restriction, despite 70% of Oregonians opposing late-term abortion. Abortion providers are not even required to be licensed physicians. Money matters to Oregon’s ruling elite, not the lives and safety of unborn children and their families.”

“What women and their families need are a variety of life-affirming options that are easier to access. Instead our current leaders are forcing private insurance providers to give out ‘free’ abortions.”

Oregon Right to Life advocates for the most vulnerable human beings whose right to life is denied or abridged under current law. We work to reestablish protection for all innocent human life from conception to natural death.
