Don’t raise local hotel taxes in shutdown

Airlines and hotels are witnessing a 90% drop in customers due to the shutdown.  Medford Ballot Measure 15-188 is a tax increase on hotels.

This tax increase comes not only the heels of a worldwide global economic crash, but it comes after hotels already suffered an 80 percent hotel tax increase in 2016 and $1.3 billion in various new business state taxes in 2019.  This tax would put Medford in one of the highest hotel tax areas in the state.

Voters should say no to Measure 15-188.

Right now hotels need customers, not new taxes.
