HB 2372 is up for a hearing this morning in the Housing Committee and it would remove a landlords no-cause eviction for removing renters. It then creates new 60-pages of changes to existing law making a new bureaucratic process for handling the delicate and private conflict matters between a landlord and tenants.
HB 2372 title reads, “Eliminates landlord’s ability to terminate residential tenancy without cause. Clarifies damages available to tenant for landlord’s unlawful no-cause notice or fraudulent landlord-cause notice.”
Should private disagreements, formally resolved peacefully and privately, now be turned into official criminal-like public process that will be on the tenants records for the rest of their life?
