KATU-TV reports that The United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 555 is faulting Oregon Governor Brown for skipping in line ahead of seniors to get the vaccine.  Governor Brown who received her vaccine last Saturday is 60 whereas the eligble age for seniors is 65, which means she skipped ahead of the vaccine line.

The union stated,  “Governor Brown needs to step up. The workers who made it possible for Oregonians to feed their families through the pandemic took on significant risk, they deserve significant protection. They shouldn’t be forced to wait well past their rightful turn for those protections.” and ““Governor Brown should follow Governor Inslee’s competent lead: put people before politics and bring grocery workers to the front of the vaccination line.”

The Union told OPB on how difficult it has been for front-lien grocery workers; “We have had numerous examples where a customer has engaged with one of our members. And in some cases, they pulled off their masks and spit at them because of their anger over being even asked to wear a mask. It’s been hell over the last year for them.”
