NEWS BREAK: Hon. Mac Sumner hospitalized — serious

This email just came in from the Capitol Club President:

“Former State Representative Mac Sumner was taken to Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City over the weekend for complications due to cancer. He is not expected to return home and his days are limited, according to family members. He is surrounded by lots of family and friends who love him. He is in good care and is not experiencing any pain. I was able to visit with Mac and he is in good spirits.

“Governor Kulongoski stopped by for a visit Saturday evening which lifted Mac’s spirits. In keeping with his characteristic form, Mac suggested to the Governor that he not raise taxes. We all got quite a laugh out of that one. ”

Sorry to hear this. Well at least even on his death bed he asked not to raise taxes. Maybe thats our new strategy, have our last wish be government policy.

      Lorrie –

We developed a lot of respect and appreciation for Rep. Sumner during the 2005 Oregon Legislative session. He supported us on some of our key initiatives. We are very sorry to hear of his passing and would like to send the family a sympathy card – do you have an appropriate contact and address?

      Thanks,

      Jerry Ritter
