Oregon Governor Kate Brown enacted a new statewide rule requiring masks for all citizens in public settings where their distance is close and unavoidable such as sporting events and festivals.  It becomes effective Friday August 27th.  This is encouraged, but not required, for small private gatherings at people’s homes.

Due to local cases rising, four different school districts have closed schools and delayed their opening as they monitor the situation.  The districts are in Benton , Douglas and Jefferson County and may spread elsewhere if other schools follow suit.  Already at schools, all staff, students and visitors are required to wear masks and anyone testing positive must be quarentined for 10 days regardless of vaccine status.
