Sen. Boquist: Redistricting alert, Vaccine exemptions, more…

By Oregon State Senator Brian Boquist,
Highlights, excerpts from Sen. Boquist newsletter

The City of Portland backtracks on its power grab and exempts police from the vaccine mandate. From this article: “Last week, WW reported that the police union’s attorneys sent city officials a warning: If you mandate vaccines for law enforcement and first responders, they will resign in droves.”  Will other cities be able to prevent law enforcement from resigning with the vaccine mandate?

The final throws of legislative redistricting in Oregon is about to happen.  Follow it here: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/redistricting There appears to be three Senate Plans.  Legislative leadership told me Plan A is a compromise plan between Senate Girod (Republican) and the Democrats which tosses out a couple of rural conservative republicans.  Plan B is based on House Republican leadership, again, out with some conservatives but fewer.  Plan C is the House Democrat plan.  Remember, the Democrats can pass anything they want.  The link above allows you to submit testimony but that ends this week.  Special Session for the Democrat vote is the 20th.  Submitting testimony is important for any future legal actions.  Remember, government serves government not the People.  That is what the above plans look like as well.  One Republican said it well “Plan A is the best of the worst choices” since Secretary of State Fagan writes the plan if the legislature fails.  I plan to be a ‘no’ vote on all three partisan gerrymandering plans.  As to a lawsuit, we shall see.

— Hospital beds are counted based on the number of staff available to staff them. With upwards of 25% of medical staff in the Oregon unvaccinated against COVID-19 who are losing their jobs in mid-October due to horrific government overreach, this will mean even less hospital beds for Oregonians that may need them for any number of medical reasons.

— Six Oregon Employees sue state over vaccination mandate, arguing they have natural immunity.

— Oregon has been rated as the nation’s worst hospital capacity per capita with its staffing shortage crisis as a leading culprit.  While patients are dying waiting in line,

— Oregon governor Brown has approved nearly $200 million bonus for the government staff ruling over every day Oregonians.

— Interestingly, the largest labor union in Washington state reached an agreement with the state’s governor to allow for religious and medical exemptions for the COVID-19 vaccine.

— LA is requiring the COVID-19 vaccination for all kids ages 12 and up.

Blowback from all sides as self-righteous Portland City Council boycotts Texas saving babies’ lives. In fact, the virtue signaling received ire from well-known satire website, the Babylon Bee with this headline, “More States Pass Abortion Laws In Hopes Of Triggering Travel Ban From Portland”.

— One of Portland State University’s most well-known professors, Peter Boghossian, sent in his letter of resignation, citing harassment and free speech infringement.

— California Gov. Gavin Newsom, who faces a competitive recall with Larry Elder, opposed vaccine mandates as early as 2019.

— After watching that interview, you will understand how terrifying it is that China is (unsurprisingly) weighing occupation of former U.S. air base at Bagram.
