The event is a fundraising gala for the LGBTQ Victory Fund, a political organization that seeks to elect candidates who support their agenda. Gov. Kate Brown has received support from the organization in her past campaigns for governor. The event includes major corporate sponsorships up to $100,000.
This incident occurred during the same week Brown’s Oregon Health Authority has begun to explore a permanent indoor mask rule.
Oregon’s current mask rules do not allow any number of unmasked individuals in indoor spaces while not actively eating or drinking.
CDC data shows the coronavirus can infect unmasked people in Washington D.C. and Oregon.
