Congress has given Oregon $6 billion in Covid & infrastructure funds in 2021 … and yet … Gov. Brown still raised small business taxes by 17%.

After Portland de-funded police it created a record breaking crime wave.  The politicians didn’t want to upset the extreme Leftist activists by refunding police so one plan involved hiring dozens of park rangers to better secure Portland as a replacement for the laid off police.

During the pandemic, government employees scored the biggest raises. Now you know why your taxes/fees were raised in the middle of pandemic.

During the pandemic, Oregon government employees were the most untouched by layoffs.

A bill in Oregon legislature would have spent a quarter billion to build a  light rail train to Cornelius.

Oregon was rated as the nation’s worst hospital capacity state.  Despite billions in Covid funds, Brown spent the money on other things rather than expanding hospital capacity.  So when Covid hospitalizations spiked, Brown shutdown businesses and private gatherings rather than expand hospital capacity, which is why Oregon was among the most shutdown/restricted states in the nation during the entire pandemic.

It’s true, this summer Gov. Brown signed one bill taxing small business by $50 million, while signing another bill giving $50 million in tax breaks to Oregon’s wealthiest. (Taxpayers Association blasted tens of thousands of postcard alerts and phone calls against Brown’s 17% small business tax).

Gov. Brown held secret pardon (commutation) meetings with dozens of prisoners and provided them with early release.  Brown made her decisions without talking with local law enforcement (who were the most knowledgeable of the criminal and their cases) or the victims’ families.

Many of the worst decisions and biggest taxes of the Legislature were debated in the final few weeks when public notice is limited and bills are rushed through.

.

One hearing in the State Capitol tried to rush a vote on 40 bills in a single morning — giving the public no realistic opportunity to share their thoughts or even follow what was happening.   The Taxpayers Association is one of the only groups bring attention to this anti-democratic tactic.
