Lake Oswego fears tourist invasion after Court ruling

One of the most expensive areas in Oregon is Lake Oswego.  Public access to the Lake has mostly been restricted from public use.  A court ruling yesterday determined that Lake Oswego (mostly an artificial lake) is actually now a public lake and should be more open to the public.

The ruling stated “Oswego Lake’s partial title-navigability, the public trust status of is waters, and the specific circumstances here create a public right of access to the lake from the City’s public waterfront parks.”

This comes as a shock to Lake Oswego residents who have approved limited use even amongst themselves, now see the gates flown wide open.

How this will reshape the landscape of the Lake will have yet to be seen.
